Frequently Asked Questions
What does ROL calculate?
ROL calculates your true net profit on a load by factoring in fuel cost (based on your truck's MPG and current regional diesel prices), overnight stay costs, and your operating expenses. It shows you net profit and profit per mile — not just rate per mile.
How does ROL calculate fuel cost?
ROL uses your truck's base MPG adjusted for load weight using the formula: effectiveMPG = baseMPG − (totalWeight − 30,000) × 0.00003 (minimum 4.0 MPG). Fuel price is pulled weekly from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) for your region, or you can set a custom price in Settings.
How are overnight stays calculated?
ROL uses DOT Hours of Service rules — 11 hours of drive time per day at an average of 50 mph works out to roughly 550 miles per day. Overnight stays = ceil(distance ÷ 550) − 1. You can override this in the app if your situation is different.
Does ROL use my location?
ROL uses Apple Maps to calculate routes from the addresses you type in. It does not track your GPS position or request background location access. The addresses you enter are processed by Apple Maps under Apple's Privacy Policy.
Does ROL work offline?
Most of ROL works offline — all calculations run on your device. Route lookups via Apple Maps require an internet connection. Fuel prices are cached for 7 days so you can use the last fetched price without a connection.
How do I set up my truck?
On first launch, ROL walks you through selecting your truck from 30+ real profiles or entering custom specs. You can update this anytime in Settings.
How do I update my fuel price?
ROL fetches regional diesel prices automatically from EIA each week. To use a custom price instead, go to Settings and enter your fuel price manually. This overrides the automatic price.
The federal weight limit warning appeared — what does it mean?
Federal law limits gross vehicle weight to 80,000 lbs on interstate highways. ROL shows a warning when the load weight you entered exceeds this limit. This is informational — you may have a permit, or it may be a data entry error.
Is my data backed up?
All data is stored locally on your device via Apple's SwiftData. If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your iPhone, app data is included in that backup. Deleting the app permanently deletes your data.
How do I delete all my data?
Go to Settings > Clear All Data inside ROL. This permanently removes all saved loads, scenarios, and your truck profile. You can also simply delete the app from your iPhone.
How do I request a refund?
App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
What iOS version does ROL require?
ROL requires iOS 17.0 or later on iPhone or iPad.
How do I report a bug?
Email support@pivotallift.com with your iOS version, device model, and a description of what happened. Screenshots are helpful.
